In this promenade performance, the traffic signs of Valmiera’s Pārgauja district take the leading roles. By bringing these signs to life, the audience unravels an ancient mystery, encounters forgotten antiheroes, and searches for the answer to one question: how did the small town of Valmiera change traffic rules around the world forever?
The Art of Urban Animation is a unique promenade theatre concept created anew in every location it visits, drawing inspiration from the site itself, as well as the stories and history of local people. So far, the project has visited cities in Finland, England, Spain, Norway, Sweden, and the Netherlands, resulting in a total of eight distinct versions of the performance.
